The students have been so excited in the days leading up to the election! We've been discussing in class what the job of the president is, requirements that a candidate must meet in order to run for president, and the election process.
What they most looked forward to was voting. They actually voted a few times! After learning about the electoral college and our voting process, we invited Mrs. Vickerman's class over to do a combined class vote. Students were placed in different size groups, and we were able to do a popular vote and electoral vote. Obama won both of these votes.
The class asked to do another vote with just our class to see if the results would be different. In our classroom vote, Romney won both the popular vote and electoral vote.
The final vote included the entire elementary today. Obama won, receiving 60% of the elementary votes.
We shall soon see who the next President will be!
