Parent Volunteers

Hello families!  I am looking for volunteers to come to our classroom to listen to students read on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays. The time is from 10:45-11:30.  Please email me if you are interested at nt.howard@hotmail.com.   Let me know what day or days works best in your schedule.  Thank you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Our 5 Bees

In our classroom we follow the five "bees"...

• "bee" responsible
• "bee" a hard worker
• "bee" kind
• "bee" a good listener
• "bee"lieve in yourself

At the end of the day, 1 student is highlighted for his or her great choices, hard work, and kindness.  A hole punch is added to the "bee" ticket, and after 4 punches the students get to pick something special from The Best "Bee"havior Catalog.  Some of the choices include eating lunch in the classroom with a friend, wear a hat for the day, wear your socks in the classroom, sit in a comfy chair all day, or bring in something special to share with the class.  The students look forward to the announcement at the end of each day, and they have really enjoyed the special moments they have earned.  (Thank you yet again to Pinterest for this really fun idea!)

First Day!

We had such a super first day!  We spent a lot of time discussing and practicing classroom procedures and routines.  We also launched our Daily 5 Read to Self and Writing Workshop.

It was great to see new faces and the return of familiar faces at last night's open house.  Thanks to all families who were able to attend!  Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, and I will see you all on Tuesday!
