Marker day means the students get to pick out a new marker from the teacher stash to keep and use all day on any assignment. Since the rule is usually "pencils only on assignments," the kids think that using a marker all day is a real treat!

Balloon 7: Math Fact Kickball
We were lucky that the rain held off again today with just enough time for us to get in a game of math fact kickball. Each student had to give the answer to a math fact before kicking the ball. The perfect way to practice math, be active, and have fun!

Balloon 6: Read Books and Share a Treat with the Kindergarten Class
Balloon 6 was a fun one! Especially since I've been waiting for this balloon to share the new Mo Willems book with the class: "A Big Guy Took My Ball!" I'm so glad that this book came out before our school year was done!
After listening to this funny read aloud, our students read a book to a kindergarten buddy. Then we shared a sweet treat!

Balloon 5: Write a Letter to a Senior
Our 5th balloon was to write a letter to a graduating senior. This balloon was popped just in time because the seniors' last day was on Friday. After we wrote our letters, we hand delivered them to the students. Congratulations and good luck seniors!

Balloon 4: Pick Your Own Spot in the Classroom and Ag Day
The 4th balloon was pick your own spot in the classroom. The kids love this one! Of course being able to sit with all of your friends is pretty fun!
Each year the FFA hosts an Ag Day where the students bring in animals and tractors to share with the rest of the students at Lanesboro. The class always looks forward to learning more about the horses, cows, chickens, and other animals. This year I also have a few boys that were very excited to see the tractors!

Balloon 3: Daily 5 Outside
The balloon we popped today was Daily 5 outside. I love this one because reading outside by the ponds is so peaceful! We did some read to self and read to someone while taking in the beautiful morning. Thank goodness the rain held off again!

Balloon 2: Nature Walk
The balloon we popped today was a nature walk with a scavenger hunt. I think that we were able to find everything except a pine cone! Luckily we had a rain free afternoon for this activity!
Balloon Countdown! Balloon 1: Lunch in the Classroom
Last year I found this super fun idea of having a balloon countdown to celebrate the end of our school year. We started with 8 balloons, and we pop a balloon each day and do the activity that is in that balloon. Today's balloon was lunch in the classroom which is one of my class' favorite things to do!
