First and Second Graders are Diving Inside the Earth!

Within the last couple weeks the first and second graders have been studying the earth.  Our topics include layers of the earth, rocks, and volcanoes.  Most recently we learned about how the 3 different types of rocks form and investigated some rocks in our classroom.  It wasn't always easy for us to decide if our rocks were igneous, metamorphic, or sedimentary.   So we invited in Mrs. Gathje, the high school science teacher, to help us determine what types of rocks we had and what features to look for in each type of rock.  Mrs. Stocker also visited to share with us her personal experience with Mount St. Helens.  We have been having a blast being rock scientists!
